Area & Perimeter Of Regular Figures Practice 1
This section includes four focused practice questions to help students practise and reinforce the rules and techniques for applying area and perimeter formulas of regular figures.
Practice 1 - Question 1
A rectangular poster is 21cm long and 12cm wide. It has a 5.5cm border around it, as shown in the diagram.
- Calculate the area of the border
- Given that 1\(cm^2\) of the border costs $0.20. Find the total cost of making the border
Practice 1 - Question 2
Triangle ABD and triangle ACD are identical triangles with AD=12cm and BD=5cm.
- Find the area of triangle ABC.
- Given that the length of AC is 13cm, find the length of the perpendicular distance from B to AC, giving your answer to 2 decimal places.
Practice 1 - Question 3
In the figure shown, ABCD is a parallelogram. DEFG is a rectangle. AZ is perpendicular to CD. It is given that AZ=12cm and FE=10cm.
- If the area of ABCD = area of DEFG = 180\(cm^2\) and perimeter of ABCD=70 cm, find i) the length of CD ii) the length of BC.
- A piece of wire is used to form the shape of the figure BAGFEDCB. Find the length of the wire required.
Practice 1 - Question 4
A wire 76cm long is cut into 2 pieces and bent to form a rectangle and a circle. Given that the length and width of the rectangle is 9cm and 7cm respectively, taking \(\pi=\frac{22}{7}\), find the radius of the circle.
